Happy New Year - 2013 - the year of mapping and meaning

When people feel overwhelmed by the amount of information now available, I think of what it was like in the East Coast of America when there was a physical "Wild West frontier" and it was overwhelming to understand what was possible over there in the "Wild West". Today, there are maps, news, stories, and the West is not so wild.

Our digital frontier reminds me of the Wild West of olden days. We are starting to make meaning and maps of the information wilderness. As we work together to acquire knowledge and understanding, I'm wondering if this is the year when we start mapping the frontier, so that we can compare notes meaningful ways that recognize each of us see and look for different things.
